It is news that will make the whole ski jumping world easier: Marta Kubacka, wife of Dawid Kubacki, seems to have survived the worst. After weeks of fighting for her life, she can leave the hospital.
It’s “time to go home”, the ski jumper announces the good news along with a photo on Instagram. A week ago it was not yet clear when Marta Kubacka would be able to leave the hospital. Now Dawid Kubacki would like to thank the doctors and nurses who performed “a miracle” with their treatment.
But his gratitude also goes out to all those who prayed for them and sent them good thoughts. These would also help in the future, because Marta is going through an intensive rehabilitation process. It’s her new reality. From now on, his wife, like many other people, will wear a pacemaker. “With such a person I will share a life, a second life.”
Numerous colleagues have already reacted to the good news. Petr Prevc: “It’s such a relief to read that.”, Gregor Schlierenzauer: “With love, faith and trust anything is possible.” Or Halvor Granerud: “Good news, come home safe” – are just a few examples.
The sympathy of the ski jumper family was and is great anyway. The Slovenian Anze Lanisek (26), for example, moved the couple with a gesture to tears: at the presentation of the overall World Cup winner, he took a cardboard figure of his Polish colleague on stage and hung his medal on it. Kubacki: «I saw it with my wife. We cried together when we saw these pictures, my throat really closed up.”
It should be news and gestures like this that give the Kubacki family courage and strength for the future. (dti)
