Amriswil thanks to a home win shortly before defending the title

Amriswil also wins game 2 of the best-of-5 series in the volleyball playoff final against Schönenwerd and needs only one win after the 3-1 home win to take the sixth title.

In the first game, the Solothurns had made up for a 0:2 deficit in front of their home crowd, but then did not get through the rounds with a 10:9 lead in the tiebreak. They battle fearlessly on in the second game in Amriswil and certainly don’t have to blame themselves in that respect.

This time, however, the Thurgau only gives the opponent a sense of achievement in the second round. But they easily endure the set equalizer and then always know the right answer, even when hope shines again at Schönenwerd.

18 year old steals the show

So it is not surprising that in the game with Amriswil, which was actually mostly balanced, the team, which acted more calmly together and in the decisive phases, finally got the upper hand. And although guest top scorer and Italy return Luca Ulrich scored the most points, an 18-year-old new national team colleague stole the show on Easter Monday: shooting star Lars Migge, who scored the decisive point in both the third and fourth sets.

Incidentally, Amriswil scored their first home win en route to a 2-0 lead in the final series in the fifth head-to-head meeting between the two opponents this season. Schönenwerd will also need one next Sunday in game 3 to prevent Thurgau from reclaiming the title for the time being. (SDA)
