Local hero Jeremy Seewer is in the mud: it’s his second first-run crash at the Motocross GP in Frauenfeld.

Jeremy Seewer (28) is the great hope of Swiss motocross fans in Frauenfeld, where the premier class MXGP kicks off a Grand Prix for the first time since 2018.

But just seconds after the start of the first run, tens of thousands of spectators on the track were groaning – the Zurich man was still in the leading group immediately after the start, but then Seewer was suddenly in the mud.

What happened? Calvin Vlaanderen (26) is a leap in the way. The South African jumps to the right in the middle of the group, hits the Swiss in the air and he cannot prevent the fall. Seewer recovers afterwards, but the first round only finishes as 26. Even then it is actually clear: the dream home victory for the five-time second world champion will not come to fruition this Easter Monday.

The catch-up race ends in last place in the points

With anger in his stomach, Seewer starts a race to catch up with him. But then follows the second chapter in his autumn drama in the home race. The Yamaha star falls back into the loamy earth in a curve to the right. No other pilot is involved this time.

In the rest of the first round, he moves up from 33rd place to the points. In the last round he took 20th place, which still yields one World Cup point, from the young Swiss Kevin Brumann (19).

The loud fans are no comfort. At the finish, Seewer shakes his head in disbelief for several seconds. The GP podium, which is the result of the addition of both runs, is already out of reach before the start of the second run (5.10 pm, SRF2 live).

Two other Swiss do better. Valentin Guillod (30) from Friborg races and jumps to 7th place. Arnaud Tonus (31) from Geneva ends up in 13th place. The clear winner of the first MXGP round is World Championship leader Jorge Prado (Sp).
