Jordane Hauert’s miraculous premiere

The ending was almost cheesy. Jordane Hauert, the captain of Ajoie and the son of the president, scored the winning goal in the 93rd minute. Hauert ended his career after this season. He had never scored – never! – A goal in the National League for Ajoie. In the second extra time, he danced out all opponents at the near post like an experienced goalscorer.

Ajoie’s first success: good luck! Because in the regular competition, the Swiss national champion La Chaux-de-Fonds was closer to victory for a long time, although Ajoie made a match superior to the competition qualification for the first time. After the first two victories (3:2 and 4:1), the team from Neuchâtel Jura again led Jura with 2:0 in Pruntrut. And in the final period, after Ajoie equalized, Oliver Achermann gave La Chaux-de-Fonds the best chance to decide the game for extra time in the 54th minute.

In the final phase of the second period, however, HC Ajoie found its way back in the series. Within 143 seconds, Ajoie turned a 0-2 deficit into a 2-2. Alain Birbaum reduced the deficit to 1:2 after 37 minutes. After that, Ajoie survived a two-minute penalty against Birbaum unscathed. Birbaum had unnecessarily challenged the opponent when celebrating a goal. Shortly after Birbaum’s penalty ended, Ajoie launched the counter-attack which Guillaume Asselin completed in the 40th minute to make it 2–2.

The series continues on Thursday in La Chaux-de-Fonds. It is clear that Ajoie has to improve his power play if he wants to stay in the competition. In the first three games, Ajoie played the manpower for 28 minutes, did not score but conceded two.
