More than 100 teams registered for PalmaVela and 45 for La Larga

1,500 sailors will gather in Palma from April 28 to May 7

Palma still bets on sailing. He Royal Yacht Club (RCNP) is pleased with the great response from the cruising community, both nationally and internationally, to the club’s first major sporting event. From April 28 to May 7, 1,500 sailors will gather Palma Vela.

When the deadline for applications for PalmaVela and its test opened at the end of December offshore, the big one the aim was to exceed the figures for 2022. After the registration period, 45 yachts will participate in the height test — including the new registered IRC, VO70 I love Poland — and 104 regatta yachts coastal inside the bay.

“We’re very happy with the response from the teams, it’s no doubt a huge boost to club morale,” says RCNP sporting co-ordinator Vivi Mainemare. Regarding the great involvement in offshore regattas, he adds that “we work year after year to make La Larga a classic event offshore Mediterranean and Europe in the spring.

La Larga: 45 teams from nine countries

La Larga de la PalmaVela has been held for the third year, as a height check through the Balearic archipelago, it has already established itself as one of the classic checks. offshore Europe in spring. From April 28 to May 2, around 500 sailors will be looking for podiums in three categories: IRC, ORC and ORC A DOS.

This year, the number of enrollments has doubled and the club bet that it will continue to grow thanks not only to the efforts of the organization but also to the response of the entire tourism sector, along with the excellent facilities that the island offers to the participants. The path between the islands and its spectacular pictures make La Larga a sea amphitheater in the Balearic Islands.

PalmaVela: 104 teams from 20 countries

Undoubtedly, one of the great successes of PalmaVela is its internationalization, with twenty countries represented in the fleet of 104 ships in which there is also room for large ships such as Maxi or Wally, as well as this year’s novelty 6 Meters (they were already in the Copa del Rey MAPFRE 2019), the bulk of the ORC fleet, which together with the Dragones and Flying Fifteen, Época, Clásicos and Espíritu de Tradición, as well as the J70 and J80 one-designs, make up PalmaVela one of the most diverse regattas in classes in the world.
