Supporters can get back up to 90% of their sports support money

Up to 90% of the invested money can be returned by private companies that support sports clubs and associations. CSD’s Fundación Deporte Joven is in the middle of its expansion phase these weeks two main ways of patronage, unknown to many federations, clubs and the business fabric, which could change Spanish sport in the coming years.

The latter are the ones that enable companies to get back up to 90% of their contribution, either in money or in kind. This Tuesday, As part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Galician Association for Sports Management (Agaxede), Jordán will participate in Santiago at the II meeting of BeOne Sports Management.

“It is not something new that we invented ourselves. These are sports programs declared events of exceptional public interest or priority patronage. Maybe we didn’t have enough promotion and what we do is present them to those who really do they can benefit: from individuals, in a private capacity, to large companies“, explains the chief director of the foundation.

As for the programs declared “events of public interest”, there are four main routes: Universo Mujer, Support Plan for Mass Sports, Inclusive Sports and New Goals. The latter is dedicated to facilitating the transition of athletes into retirement. In addition, Reto De. will soon be launched, to promote sports activities in rural areas and consequently stimulate economic activity and revitalization of the territory.

In all these cases, the entity, the federation or the athlete himself must present his project to Deporte Joven. After a deeper analysis, it is approved or rejected. If so, those companies that wish to support one of these initiatives can benefit from a maximum of 15% of their total advertising investment, regardless of medium. From there, they recover 90% of the amount they allocate to the project through profit tax. In other words, if a company spends a hundred thousand euros every year on various types of advertising, and decides to pay 15%, or 7,500 euros, into the program, it can deduct 90% of the profit tax (6,750 euros), with which he will support the club, for example, with 7,500 euros, but it will only cost him 750. “Undoubtedly a very profitable investment that will force many companies to rethink some of their advertising and direct it to the world of sports.”

Foundation, intermediary

To benefit from this project, you can do so directly. This means that the company asks Deporte Joven to support a specific entity or athlete; or there is an option for the company to contribute a certain amount to a bag that the foundation will distribute among different beneficiaries.

Another major plan that the Foundation manages together with the CSD is “España Compite”, declared a priority patronage activity.

In this case, any sports entity or individual can opt for it, and the tax relief for companies is a 40% deduction in the tax on economic activities, with an upper limit of fifty thousand euros and 15% of the IAE tax base.

Another case, if the company allocates 50,000 euros and does not exceed the mentioned 15 percent, it will return 20,000. If you go over that percentage, you can deduct the amount nine years after the gift. And if you maintain the contribution continuously over time, after the third year you switch from the deduction from 40 to 45%.

In this case, the Deporte Joven Foundation makes a bag that it distributes to those who request it.

In all these grants, clubs participating in professional leagues of any sport are excluded.

Likewise, individuals who contribute to sports can also profit, to a lesser extent, through income tax.
