Among many other experts, Nati commentator Sascha Ruefer is also being interviewed about the 30-year-old. However, as CH Media knows, not everything the 51-year-old said about Xhaka is reflected in the final cut.

As the publisher learned from an unnamed source, Ruefer had a statement about the midfielder cut from the documentary afterwards: “It’s about a statement about Captain Granit Xhaka and his lineage. A statement that Ruefer could have considered racist in its original form. interpret.”

Critical voices would therefore most likely be blocked by the SFV. “While the players and the union gave the film crew free rein, SRF took care of the censorship with all its might,” the Tagblatt source said. When asked by the Tagblatt, both director Simon Helbling and Susan Schwaller, editor-in-chief of SRF Sport, emphasized that “from the rough draft to the final product of a documentary there are always multiple versions and adjustments” and that the process is normal.
