The Emmentaler goalie Akira Schmid is not doing well in the sport at the moment. On Saturday night, he was substituted as goalkeeper for the New Jersey Devils after conceding three early goals in the 11th minute. Now the 22-year-old must transfer from the NHL back to the AHL farm team Utica Comets.
The move is mainly due to backup goalkeeper Mackenzie Blackwood who is recovering from injury. Schmid was called back to the team with captain Nico Hischier a month ago and appeared on the ice in a total of seven games. On his first assignment in this phase, he achieved his first shutout in the NHL. Schmid has played 17 and 23 NHL games this season. (SDA)
