Captain Moser explains the SCB turnaround

With two goals, captain Simon Moser was the winner of the SCB game.

1. Discipline is back

The discipline was not good in the first two games, but in Tuesday’s 3-2 win, SCB just managed to take a two-minute penalty. And Jesse Zgraggen had to take this in order to avoid a goal. It begins with Chris DiDomenico, who pulls himself together and has grown from a stubborn wretch into a model pro who serves the team. That also encourages the teammates.

Captain Simon Moser, who was the big figure with two goals in Game 4, says of the rediscovered discipline: “Everyone has to decide for themselves if they are ready to perform like this. That’s exactly how we have to go on!”

2. Bug fixed

At the beginning of the series, SCB made individual mistakes on a scale that cannot afford in the playoffs. Goals were presented to Biel on a silver platter. Not anymore. In game 4, goalkeeper Philip Wüthrich did not concede a stupid goal for the first time. So Bern is much more unpredictable for Biel.

“These turnovers that we made played into the hands of the people from Biel with their speed and running skills. Now we try to be more compact, play the puck deep and force our forechecking on them,” explained Moser.

3. Momentum captured

Biel seemed a bit stubborn in game 3, ignoring his usual defensive measures. The SCB seized this opportunity by the crest, got the away win and the momentum. As a closed unit, the Mutzen invest a lot in order not to give up anymore. Biel has to come up with something.

“We needed this win more than Biel. We have become more focused and organized, focused on what we need. We also have the necessary luck in important situations and we have to take that with us,” explains Moser.

4. Ice age management

Was it his insight or was SCB coach Toni Söderholm driven to this conclusion? The fact is: the Ice Age is now much better distributed. The top line around DiDomenico is no longer overly forced, the ice age has lessened. For this, the fourth rule is no longer ignored, but rewarded with more ice time. Baumgartner, Brügger and Ritzmann thanked Tuesday with a topper, the whole team looks fresher.

“We now have to let our emotions sink in, recover and then be ready for the first mission on Friday,” demands Moser.
