Contini confirms the message to Blick, saying: “I didn’t make it easy on myself, but I came to the conclusion that it was for the best.”

Contini: «I wanted to set an example. 13 contracts expire at the end of the season, so far there has been no movement in the matter. The last game of the season is on May 29, a few days later preparations for the new season will begin. But with which players?

In addition, there is no one left of the management team that signed him in the summer of 2021, Contini continued. He then had a contractual notice period of six months.

Contini’s dismissal surprised. Even more surprising is the fact that a coach who has handed in his resignation can continue working. Contini, who communicated his decision to sports director Bernt Haas and new board member and Fosun envoy Bill Pan, says when asked: “It was noted and I was told to keep working.”

“My dismissal has nothing to do with the players”

Contini even “survived” the first two games after his dismissal against FCZ and FC Luzern, both of which he lost. What went well for weeks under the guise of secrecy (most recently six points from the games against Winterthur and Sion), will probably become more difficult from now on.
