Sion chairman Christian Constantin has made his decision: David Bettoni is the name of the new coach of the ninth-placed Super League team. His contract runs until the end of the season.
The 51-year-old Bettoni has never held the position of head coach before. Now he comes to his premiere in Zion of all places.
Bettoni, a Frenchman, was Zinedine Zidane’s assistant for a long time at Real Madrid. The duo enjoyed great success. Bettoni was there when Los Blancos won the Champions League three times in a row from 2016 to 2018.
Bettoni will lead FC Sion’s training for the first time on Tuesday afternoon. Wallis has been without a win in the competition since October 15. On Saturday, Zion duels leader YB of all people.
With Paolo Tramezzani as his coach, Constantin started the season in the summer. In mid-November he was replaced by Fabio Celestini and FC Sion released him at the end of February.
