Feller ranted against the commercial break in the snow chaos

The slalom in Palisades Tahoe (California) sank into deep snow. It flaked constantly and a tuft of fresh snow kept falling on the slope. For most drivers, the problem was limited because they were each able to start shortly after their predecessor. Not so with Manuel Feller – the Austrian had to wait longer due to the TV commercial break and had to deal with a full load of fresh snow.

“I don’t know why you have to take a TV break with such a snowfall,” the 30-year-old complained in an ORF interview. After the usual commercial break, Feller started eighth on the first run and saw himself as a “snow clearer” for Henrik Kristoffersen.

Feller had to wait two and a half minutes

The reporter then asked if there had been any slipping on the ramp during that time. “Of course there was slipping, but two centimeters of snow fell in a minute,” said the two-time World Cup slalom winner. “Then why are you doing a TV break, that’s completely pointless.”

The focus of his criticism is on the FIS and not on the organizer, as the Tyrolean clarifies: “The FIS decides.” There have been enough difficult races in which the commercial breaks have been eliminated. “So I don’t understand why they let me wait here in the starting house for two and a half minutes.”

The fifth in the slalom ranking (329 points) is still waiting for a victory this season, but can show three 2nd places. At the season finale in Soldeu (And) he still has a chance to succeed, but he no longer plays a role in the battle for the small crystal ball. (che)
