About the new Nati sweaters: courage to use color!

The home shirt is in classic red, while the away shirt is slightly more special: the white shirt has blue accents. Finally! I’ve been waiting for a slightly different design for the Swiss away shirt for a long time. In my opinion, supplier Puma has held on to the classic white-red design for too long.

I would have liked to use more blue and present an even bolder design. Because although the home shirt must always remain in the traditional colors, an away shirt is the perfect way to break taboos and rules.

The Germans in pink

The Germans have demonstrated this. And how! Our neighbors presented a pink shirt as an away shirt for their home European Championship. The dress from (current) sponsor Adidas, which uses the color to “represent the new generation of German football fans and the diversity of the country”, caused a lot of discussion in Germany: a number of fans complained about the exotic color on social media. media.

But the shirt still achieved its goal: as Adidas announced, it had the best sales start in history for a German away shirt. And because the sporting performance of the DFB team is also up to standard again, a real European Championship euphoria is emerging in Germany, a pink summer fairytale.

Positive reactions in Switzerland

Back to Switzerland. It seems I’m not the only one who likes our jerseys in this country. Our social team took to the streets of Zurich with their bibs and received a largely positive response. And the new sweaters also did very well in the Blick election.

We can only hope that the new jerseys will be sold well by the time of the European Championships in Switzerland. Especially in my generation, there could be more national team jerseys. Because many of my peers would rather wear PSG, Real or France jerseys than a Switzerland jersey.

Once in blue or gold

Football shirts with an attractive design have become real fashion eye-catchers these days. Boring national team jerseys don’t mean much. This is also why I always hoped for a more striking shirt that would appeal to my generation. The new away kit is a step in the right direction.
