A great success story is coming to an end. Novak Djokovic (36) will no longer work with coach Goran Ivanisevic (52). With the Croatian coach, the Serb has won twelve Grand Slam titles in recent years.
«Goran and I decided a few days ago to end our collaboration. Our relationship on the court had ups and downs, but the friendship always endured,” Djokovic wrote in his post on Instagram.
Djokovic brought Ivanisevic into his team in 2018 to improve his service, among other things. “Actually, we not only worked on the service, but we also laughed a lot together, had fun and broke records,” said Djokovic. Although there was also “some drama”, after many years together, gratitude is all that remains. ‘Thank you for everything, my friend. Love you.”
It is still unclear how and whether Djokovic will replace his old coach. Recently, the Serbian had to cancel his participation in Miami to “properly balance the private and sporting aspects at this stage of his career”, as he explained on X. (dti)
