Not red and white!: Can we get a new color on the Nati jersey?

Most countries have already presented their new jerseys – and have already caused one or two discussions. For example, Germany’s pink outfit feels like it divides an entire nation.

However, the national team jersey has not yet been introduced. Our new kit for the European Championships in the summer will not be presented until March 28. Or was this leaked a week too early?

Photos of the new dress are already circulating on the internet. When asked by Blick, the Swiss Football Association does not want to comment on the authenticity. A sporting goods retailer is said to have the coveted new jerseys. And these reveal surprising things. While the home shirt remains simple in red with white and dark red details on the collar and sleeves, there will be a new color in the “away shirt”: dark blue! The base color remains white, while accents such as the Puma and SFV logos shine in the new color.

Yes, we’ve played in blue before!

It’s a style change compared to Puma, as our jerseys have always been in red and white in recent years. At the same time you can also travel back to old times: in 1999 our national team already had a blue kit: during a European Championship qualifier in Copenhagen the time had come: Kubilay Türkyilmaz and Co. gave the spectators an unusual view against Denmark (see Gallery). By the way, despite Kubi’s goal, the national team lost 1:2 and narrowly missed the European Championships under Gilbert Gress.

The new jersey will be used for the first time on April 5, when our women’s national team competes against Turkey in the European Championship qualifiers in the Letzigrund in Zurich – but probably in their home kit.
