After the gala against Darmstadt: all of Germany is enthusiastic about Bayern’s Musiala

Against bottom team Darmstadt, Bayern Munich fell behind after just under half an hour. But then the German record champions turned up the heat – partly thanks to Jamal Musiala. The twenty-year-old played the opponent dizzy and played a key role in the ultimately clear 5-2 victory with three goals. He made it 1-0 from close range, for the 3-1 he dribbled around four opponents in the penalty area and set up Gnabry’s 4-1 in an exemplary manner.

No wonder Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel became enraptured after the match. “Jamal has been very decisive in the match in recent weeks,” he said at the press conference. “We are always happy with him, the potential is excellent.”

Hardworking and very, very good level

Musiala’s stats are also excellent. He has collected sixteen goals (ten goals and six assists) this Bundesliga season, nine of which have come in the last five games. He is certainly in good shape. Tuchel knows this too and says: “He works hard, he has reached a very, very good level. The mix between dribbling and passing, and the decision-making is now very good.”

No wonder Musiala himself is also satisfied. They created more chances after finding the rhythm, he tells Sportschau. «I try to keep my fun, even in the difficult phases. And now things are going well – and now I’m having more fun than before.”

The opponent’s coach is also enthusiastic

This does not go unnoticed by others either. Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund says Musiala is full of joy and it is a lot of fun to watch him. Captain Manuel Neuer describes Musiala as a “difference player” and Thomas Müller describes his dribbling as “madness”.

But Musiala is not only enthusiastic within the club. Even Darmstadt coach Torsten Lieberknecht is full of praise. “It’s a real pleasure to watch the boy,” he says.
