Simone Wild (30) finished 27th in the giant slalom in Are (Swe). In 30th place after the first run, Wild barely qualified for the second run. In the post-race interview, the Zurich resident was not satisfied: “I gave it everything. But it’s not really a leap forward.”

Afterwards, Wild struggles with tears. The selections for next season are causing her problems. “It is currently difficult with the nominations, whether it is enough for the top thirty or not. That’s why I’m happy that I could start today.”

Will Wild fall out of the top 30?

Wild is uncertain about its team membership for next season and whether it will remain in the top 30 of the rankings. Today they have four points thanks to their 27th place. However, as her competitors accumulate more points, she drops from 28th to 30th in the overall rankings. This means that she runs the risk of dropping out of the top 30 and would not automatically belong to the A selection.

Wild finished in the points in seven of eight giant slaloms this season. The best result was 17th place in Jasna (Slk). In December, the 30-year-old injured her ankle during a training fall and was forced to take a break for several weeks, meaning she fell behind in the points competition. Now she urgently needs to score points at the last giant slalom in Saalbach (Austria).
