But from his debut against FCZ (2:2) it became clear that the line between genius and madness is extremely thin for the new signing. Although Veiga excels with a wonderful free kick, he is also very confused twice: his violence against FCZ striker Afriyie has no consequences, nor does his careless loss of ball as the man behind it.

Even six months later, Veiga has not really become any wiser. There is no doubt that the powerhouse from Lisbon has enormous talent. No other player in Switzerland combines such a physique with such fine feet. But the Portuguese U21 international does not make full use of his enormous potential and instead regularly attracts attention with unnecessary tricks and wild gestures.

Celestini leaves Veiga out of the starting line-up

“Renato sometimes has a little too much energy. “Some of his game is still not efficient enough, so he needs to develop,” says Fabio Celestini (48). But Veiga made a mistake this week, especially on the training field. Without Veiga, nothing works at FCB
