The hesitation about the YB coach: And if Wicky has to leave immediately after a clean sheet in Sion?

A pose from the Servette game: Does the situation around him also give Raphael Wicky something to think about?

Wallis is upside down again. Because FC Sion is upside down again. Finally positive, after all the humiliations of the past seasons, which for years ended in narrowly avoiding relegation and early cup eliminations. Until last season it was no longer possible to stay in the competition.

But the Challenge League turned out to be a rejuvenating treatment and Didier Tholot was a direct hit. And for the fourth time! Sion is on the right path back to the Super League and hungry for a cup coup. YB comes at just the right time!

Extending after hesitation is no longer possible

The teacher. Hurt by the home defeat against Servette. Due to many mediocre performances before, such as the cucumber kick in the 1-0 win against SLO. The missing achievement in the European Cup. The goalkeeper falters. Players complain about not enough playing time. Unnecessarily giving away players. The nightly thrill of one of the club’s greatest legends. And above all: the incomprehensible, never-ending story about coach Raphael Wicky’s contract, which expires in June.

An extension is now no longer possible due to the endless hesitation and postponement. That’s why reputable newspapers and online transcription services are happily juggling the names of coaches who could take over at the end of the season. From Fischer to Frick to Weiler.

Which coach is free – and certainly hot

But what if Wicky is eliminated from the cup in Sion? Shouldn’t we think one step further? Namely that an immediate divorce might be the smartest thing? Someone like Alain Geiger is free. And definitely hot for YB. The Romand faction in the YB sports committee is large and prominent (Von Bergen, Chappi, Castella). They would hardly speak out against the Valais. Maybe these are just pipe dreams. But what if that’s not the case?

Because one thing is clear: when you are out of the cup, one of the three declared goals for the season, and against a team from the lower league, YB can do a lot, but not one thing: go back to normal.
