Skicrosser Lenherr is catching up

Light and shade for the Swiss ski crossers during the World Cup on the Reiteralm. Jonas Lenherr is the only one to reach the eighth finals, but then takes second place in spectacular fashion. A month before his 35th birthday, the St. Gallen resident had to dive into the snow shortly after the start of the final, but then almost raced to the front with a daring ride. The only thing he can no longer intercept is the Swede Erik Mobärg.

The early exit has consequences for Alex Fiva. The 2021 world champion and 2022 Olympic silver medalist will have to relinquish the lead in the overall standings to fourth-placed Canadian Reece Howden. The women’s race had to be canceled because the slope was soft after heavy snowfall and on which they had not been able to gain sufficient speed. Another race for men and women is scheduled for Sunday.

Podium for snowboarder Zogg

Snowboarder Julie Zogg takes second place in the parallel giant slalom in Krynica-Zdroj, Poland. She lost in the final to the German Ramona Hofmeister. Zogg’s 2nd place is the first Swiss podium finish in the current World Cup season.

Monobob Swiss women outside the top 10

The Swiss monobob drivers Melanie Hasler and Debora Annen are in 11th and 14th place at the World Championships in Winterberg after half their time.

Not surprisingly, the Swiss women are not competing for medals in the monobob. Melanie Hasler, who finished second on the podium at the World Cup in La Plagne, fell from 8th to 11th in the second of four rounds. Michael Vogt’s life partner, who had a serious fall two weeks ago, loses a lot of time, especially in the lower part of the track in Sauerland.

Hasler is already 62 hundredths behind halftime leader Lisa Buckwitz from Germany, while Junior World Champion Debora Annen is 86 hundredths behind in her World Cup debut in fourteenth place. Races 3 and 4 are scheduled for Sunday morning. (SDA)
