Appearance at SRF show: Holdener causes laughter with a fashion show

Wendy Holdener stars in a television appearance.

On Sunday evening it will be a show stage instead of a ski slope for Wendy Holdener (30). This is made possible by Stefan Büsser (38), who invites her to his show ‘Late Night Switzerland’. Holdener has time for that because she was injured in mid-December and is currently not participating in the World Cup.

Instead, she ventures into uncharted territory. Holdener recently represented Tina Weirather, 34, who recently became a mother, in a podcast. That was fun, even though she doesn’t often listen to podcasts herself. What she often does is give interviews. Büsser wants to know: “Is it unusual for you to answer questions without discreetly holding a bottle next to your head?” Not only is the audience laughing, so is Holdener. She says: “No, but I notice how annoying it is for certain athletes.” Luckily her sponsor is very relaxed about this and doesn’t ask for it. But it’s “a little extreme when you hold it up to the camera like that,” meaning she can’t resist taking a little swipe at the competition.

New ski outfit

The gift Holdener receives is also extremely – extremely retro. Büsser’s sidekick Michael Schweizer (44) searched for this on online marketplaces using the guest’s name. For example, autograph cards were available at Holdener. She says with a wink that it is a shame that they cost ‘only’ 14 francs. And asks her fans not to buy them. You can get one directly from her in exchange for a stamped return envelope.

She then eagerly awaits her gift. If Schweizer says it’s something to wear, Holdener hopes for something sparkly. This has not been fully fulfilled. She gets a purple and green retro ski suit. The question is whether she will wear it to the slopes next time. Because when she is out in private, she dresses inconspicuously, Holdener reveals. Fans never challenge her to a race. Either because they don’t recognize the ski ace, or because they don’t dare to ask because I would simply be faster.

Holdener leaves it open when she will ride the next race: “I will go to the doctor in a week, then I will know more.” So the fans will have to keep waiting for the next brilliant performance at the World Cup. Instead, Holdener delivers this at the end of the show when she presents her new ski suit in a small fashion show. (beer)
