Banana is a healthy snack because the classic yellow fruit is rich in vitamins and minerals. It contains significant amounts of potassium and magnesium, among other things. Banana is good for digestion and heart.

But be careful: There are three common mistakes made when eating bananas.

Mistake 1: Wrong peeling

Have you ever seen monkeys peeling bananas? They do this to us humans in the exact opposite way. The exotic fruit is actually peeled from the other side of the stem rather than from below. To do this, take the end of the banana between your thumb and index finger and separate it.

The “other” peeling method has a big advantage: the threads that would stick to the flesh when peeling the banana are no longer there. In addition, when peeling the banana, it will no longer be possible for the inside of the banana to get stuck, as its surface is very hard and must be pulled or pressed firmly.

Mistake 2: Not storing properly

Bananas should under no circumstances be stored in the refrigerator. The exotic fruit is sensitive to cold and therefore should be stored at room temperature.

Also be careful where you store bananas. Because yellow fruits, like apples, emit ethylene, which is a ripening gas. Fruits that are closer to bananas spoil more quickly.

Mistake 3: Not washing your hands

Anyone who peels a banana should wash their hands before eating. Pesticides have been detected many times on the peel of the yellow fruit. To ensure that the exotic fruit survives transportation and lasts as long as possible, it is treated with anti-mold agents.

Even though pesticides do not reach the flesh of the fruit, you should still be careful and wash your hands thoroughly after peeling!
