Petra Vlhova falls during the giant slalom in Jasna.

Is that bitter? At her home race in Jasna, Slovakia, Petra Vlhova falls in the first run of the giant slalom and ultimately has to be taken to the valley on a sled. Now the diagnosis is there: torn ligaments. Season off.

Your coach Mauro Pini: “Unfortunately there is no good news. Petra tore a cruciate ligament in her right knee and her season is over. She was taken away by helicopter. Her shoulder hurt too, but everything is fine.”

After an inside ski error, the 2022 Olympic slalom champion flies into the net. Frustration and fear among the thousands of Slovak fans – like Vlhova herself, they probably imagined this giant slalom very differently. Now the focus is on the comeback. (like/like)
