The trainer flying parade before the start of the second half of the season: Henriksen is still in the ejection seat

Despair for FCZ coach Bo Henriksen. The Dane is still in ejection seat number one.

Bo Henriksen is number one in Blick’s trainer flights parade this summer. Because a bad start to the season could spell his downfall. And no desire to emigrate. But the FCZ got off to an excellent start. Discussions about the coach will take place soon. But not because of a lack of success. But because of the Dane’s lack of effort.

The discussions drag on. Only: it concerns the new season, because Henriksen’s contract expires in the summer. And not about the here and now. But if things continue like the last three games of the preliminary round (two defeats and one draw), after which FCZ falls from the leadership throne, things can happen very quickly…

Weiler is now safely in the saddle

René Weiler came second. And indeed, the Zurich native looked shaky early in Geneva: after eight rounds, Servette had only one win to his name and was fourth from the last. The only thing that saved Weiler was the coup in the Champions League qualifying against Genk, with which the Grenats secured the Europa League. Weiler then strings together seven victories. Servette is now undefeated in ten matches. Weiler qualifies the team for the Conference League play-offs – and is safely in the saddle.

Chaos in Vaud

And number three? Her name was Ludovic Magnin. The preliminary round in Lausanne was a mixed bag. Yet the coach was never a problem. Despite the big name of the owners (Ineos), they do not seem to have lost a certain degree of groundedness. You humbly acknowledge that you are a climber and that the trees do not grow to the sky. Completely different from the other two Vaudois Super League promoted teams, who shone with ignorance and sent their promotional coaches into the desert for no apparent reason. Marco Schällibaum from Yverdon, who was number nine on our list, and Anthony Braizat from Quartierklub Stade-Lausanne-Ouchy, who was eleven. Has this made everything better in Vaud? Yverdon is fourth from last. SLO was eliminated last.

Basel changed twice

But the first coach to leave was that of FC Basel: Timo Schultz, who now has to save 1. FC Köln. Basel boss David Degen called it a “mistake” and ended the Schultz era after seven league games with just one win and the ignominy of failing in Conference League qualifying against Tobol Kostanay. Ex-coach and sports director Heiko Vogel took over, who went all out for this commitment – and lost. After four games with four defeats, Vogel also had to leave.

Here is the new flying parade:

1

Bo Henriksen (Zürich)

As usual! Henriksen remains the one for the second half of the season. The pattern is the same: if things continue to go as bad as they did at the end of the preliminary round, very soon the new sports director Milos Malenovic will no longer be able to resist the temptation to use a man of his liking.

2

Bruno Berner (GC)

New club owners can be poison for an incumbent coach! Even though, like Berner, he has only been a coach for six months. This is conceivable with the upcoming transfer of ownership. But also the opposite. A lot of things are volatile there.

3

Ludovic Magnin (Lausanne)

Humility and grounded. If only Lausanne’s bosses had shown themselves so far. As written. But not forever and ever. When it comes to life, Magnin has to deliver. Otherwise, the Lex Totomat (also Lex CC, which is missing from this ranking this season) comes into play.

4

Mattia Croci-Torti (Lugano)

Certainly, the man remains popular. But that offers no protection against the performance principle. Certainly not at an American-owned club. And Lugano has had a mixed preliminary round. The line is close. FCB goes up. Nerves thin quickly.

5

Mario Frick (Lucerne)

Somehow it was thought that the FCL could take a big step forward with Frick. But the sporting record is mixed. And it was a very strange decision to make the almost deserter Jashari captain again. On the other hand, the chaos in Alpstaeg could play into Frick’s hands if he were treated more leniently.

6

Ricardo Dionisio (Stade Lausanne Ouchy)

One rather pointless dismissal can quickly be followed by another. This is the moment when there is only despair at the threat of immediate relegation. Club owner Vartan Sirmakes is an honorable man. But he doesn’t know anything about football. That’s not necessary. But that can also be very bad for a coach.

7

Patrick Frame (Winterthur)

Winti oasis of well-being? Clearly. In one way or another. Especially because FCW’s home games are always a huge spectacle. But even in Eulachstadt, the impending street fight can blur reality.

8th

René Weiler (napkin)

Servette sits comfortably at the top after an incredible seven-match winning streak and three subsequent draws. The Genevans are now level with the FCZ. Unless there is a total collapse, they will play for Europe until the end. With Hamlet.

9

Alessandro Mangiarratti (Yverdon)

The same applies here as for SLO and Dionisio. However, the Ticino coach took four points from the last two games. That is also a trend. And no one will seriously ask for having to cross the finish line in this shark tank. Not even the Americans who fired Schällibaum.

10

Fabio Celestini (Basel)

A coach of the current FCB only in tenth place? And that under the unpredictable club boss David Degen? Rotblau has already been substituted twice in this historically weak season. And in fact resigned himself to staying below the line. Now we’re almost back to it. If you stay in the race, it’s a small miracle. And the trainer is no problem.

11

Peter Zeidler (St. Gallen)

The sports director is gone. And that shocked some people who saw it from the outside. The inseparable duo Hüppi/Sutter no longer exists. A new era begins with Roger Stilz. He seems quite numb. If necessary, he will certainly sacrifice a trainer. But certainly not Peter Zeidler during the season, when the Espen continue to roar and win with such pleasure at home and remain in the race for Europe.

12

Raphael Wicky (YB)

Even if there is no contract extension, whatever the reasons, YB will never change coaches during the season. Someone who achieves all goals. Unless there is a dramatic collapse. But YB has too strong a team and too many resources for that.
