A lot of confidence from Lucerne in Marbella: the next FCL youngster impresses Frick

Three more days and then FC Luzern will exchange pleasant southern Spanish temperatures for the icy cold of Switzerland. Until then, the Central Swiss team has two more test matches scheduled in Marbella (both on Friday).

The board of directors started its journey home on Wednesday. The entire committee traveled to Andalusia for a few days to meet in a different setting. At the end of their trip, the board of directors watched the first test match against Karlsruhe. There was little to celebrate against the club from the 2nd Bundesliga. Despite the bankruptcy, Frick is happy

It is quite possible that something will happen in the transfer market by then. Because the central defender that Frick wanted is not there yet. “We are still vigilant,” he explains.

Will another FCL youngster make his breakthrough?

Frick can currently count on Denis Simani (32), Luca Jaquez (20) and Mauricio Willimann (20) in central defense. Because Ismajl Beka (24) is injured and Mile Vukelic (20) is eligible for the U21 despite a strong performance against Karlsruhe, one player is missing from the defensive quartet. It must be completed by a player with a certain amount of experience and not by another young person.

The FCL certainly does not lack young players. This is also evident from the training camp. Frick took five U21 players with him. He was impressed by midfielder Levin Winkler (20). “He trained very well and had a good second half against KSC. “He stood out the most among the new guys,” Frick said. It remains to be seen whether Winkler or any of the other four youngsters will actually be used regularly in the second half of the season. It wouldn’t be a surprise, though. Ultimately, the FCL has a clear lead in the SFL Young Talent Trophy.
