Thomas Henry (29) could have been a hero for Hellas Verona on Saturday evening. The French striker put the ball on the penalty spot in the 100th minute and could make it 2-2 against Inter with Yann Sommer (35) in goal. But his nerves fail him.

The Swiss jumps into the wrong corner, but Henry’s shot hits the post – the Serie A leaders win. The Nerazzurri only took the lead in the 93rd minute. Henry, who had equalized in the 74th minute, revealed on Instagram on Sunday that he was subsequently insulted by fans in the worst possible way, including death threats.

Sommer talks about his transfer year

“For everyone who insults my family by wishing them dead, I hope they find peace in their little lives one day,” the 29-year-old said in response to the unspeakable messages he received. Making mistakes is part of sport and he will do everything he can to improve. “One day you win, the next day you lose, the next day you score a goal, the next day you make a mistake.”

Henry is happy with his second goal against Inter

Henry, who was out between January and October 2023 with a torn cruciate ligament, was proud that he could “score a goal at San Siro for the second time in my career.” He has been under contract with the Northern Italians since the summer of 2022. He previously played for Venice, scoring an away goal against Inter in January 2022.

“What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger,” continues the 1.91 meter tall striker. Henry wants to inspire the fans again on Saturday, Verona meets Empoli at home (6 p.m.).
