When HC Ajoie plays, a prominent Swiss athlete is in the audience when her schedule allows it. Angelica Moser (26), fifth at the World Pole Vault Championships in Budapest last August. Her eyes are mainly focused on one thing: striker Kevin Bozon (28) is not only her favorite player, but also her great love. They have been a couple for almost two years.
It started when Bozon was still playing for EHC Winterthur in the Swiss League. “My best colleague at the time had a relationship with a Winterthur player, took me to the games and that’s how I met Kevin,” says Moser. «We got along very well, wrote to each other first and then met. From the beginning there was a familiarity, as if we had known each other for a long time.” When Bozon first spoke to Moser, he said, he had “no idea” that he was facing a famous Swiss athlete. This later surprise did not surprise him deterred, on the contrary.
“We have a similar character and were on the same page from the beginning,” says Bozon, drawing a hearty laugh from Moser with these words. She responds with a look of love and says about him: “I like everything about him. Best of all is his character, but also the way he treats me and people in general.”
They have now moved in together and live near Delsberg, which is ideal for both of them. While Bozon’s HC Ajoie is based in nearby Pruntrut JU, Moser’s training base is largely located in Magglingen BE, which can be reached in 30 minutes. Both believe that an athlete relationship certainly has its benefits. “As an athlete, Kevin understands me and knows that other things often take priority,” Moser explains. They participate in each other’s careers and suffer together. Being present live at Moser is often difficult for Bozon, “since many competitions take place abroad. But when she jumps in Switzerland, I am often there.”
Because they play different sports, it is often a big challenge to coordinate their schedules so that there is still time for togetherness. “His season starts when mine ends and vice versa. “We can hardly go on holiday together,” Moser regrets. The holiday topic also concerns Bozon, “but we both understand that it is and that it is part of our lives as athletes.”
This understanding was practically born in them – both their parents were also athletes. Kevin Bozon’s father Philippe (57) is a French ice hockey legend who played in the NHL, but also became a crowd favorite in Lugano and Servette and is currently the French national coach. His mother Hélène (57) was a ski racer and finished fifth as Hélène Barbier at the 1985 Slalom World Championships. Angelica’s father Severin (61) was a decathlete (participated in the 1988 Olympic Games) and her mother Monika (58) was a heptathlete and hurdler. . «Our parents get along very well. “That is certainly because everyone has the character of an athlete,” says Moser.
Kevin Bozon once tried pole vaulting for fun, “but the risk of injury is too great – we have to postpone any serious attempts until the end of my hockey career.” His respect for his girlfriend’s sport is great. And what figure does track and field athlete Moser make on skates? “I can skate fast, but I can’t brake well,” she says, smiling. But her life partner has made her more and more of a hockey fan: “It’s a cool sport.”
2024 will be a big year for Angelica Moser – with the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, the European Championships in Rome and the Olympic Games in Paris as highlights. «Last year showed where the journey can go. The run-up to the season has been going well so far and that is why I hope that it can be even higher,” she says full of energy. Almost at the same time, Kevin Bozon also wants to take advantage of his Olympic opportunity at the end of August – with the French national team at the qualifying tournament in Riga for the 2026 Olympic Games. With father Philippe on the board and his brother Tim (29), who plays in Lausanne, on his side. «Angelica is already about to play her third Olympic Games. It would be a dream for me to also participate in the Olympic Games,” he says.
But first he and Ajoie have to fight to stay in the competition – the home game against the SCL Tigers (Friday, from 7.25 pm, live on Blick) is undoubtedly one way to determine where they stand. It is now known who will be rooting for him particularly intensively.
