Race in Innsbruck-Igls: Hasler’s attempt to catch up in the monobob fails

Melanie Hasler still cannot catch up in Innsbruck.

In fifth place after the first round, Melanie Hasler (25) finished seventh in the blowing snow in Innsbruck. The gap with the German winner Lisa Buckwitz was 1.12 seconds. Last week, Hasler was seventh at halftime in La Plagne and moved up to second place.

Buckwitz from Germany celebrates her second World Championship victory in the monobob with the victory. At the Olympic ice rink in Innsbruck-Igls, the World Cup bronze medalist won with the best time in both runs and 0.25 seconds ahead of Australia’s Breeana Walker, while her teammate Laura Nolte (Winterberg/+0.30) came third.

American Kaysha Love, who scored her first victory in her first World Cup race in France, finished fourth to maintain the lead in the overall monobob. (SDA/AFP)
