The day after winning the 100m dolphin title, Noè Ponti was at the top of his game over twice the distance without pushing himself. His time of 1:54.38 was almost five seconds better than his Swiss record, which he set last December when he finished third at the World Short Course Championships in Melbourne.

Due to his personal best times, Ponti is also considered the top contender for European Championship gold in the 200 meter dolphin. He is the only participant with a value smaller than 1:50. With Toscan Marius, a second Swiss reached the semi-finals. The St. Gallen native took 15th place in 1:57.59.

Bollin and Gartmann also in the semi-finals

Thierry Bollin advanced one lap in the 100 meter backstroke. The day after his surprise bronze medal victory in the 50 m backstroke, St. Galler reached 12th place in 51.43, which put him some 1.3 seconds above his own Swiss record. The Frenchman Mewen Tomac was the best in 50, 47 op.

Gian-Luca Gartmann is also in the semi-finals of the 200 meter individual medley. The 20-year-old Ustemer qualified for the next round thanks to place 17.
