Alexis Monney (23)

The 2020 world junior champion hinted at his gigantic potential in the biggest downhill classics last winter – on the Lauberhorn Monney was in the top 10 for the first time and in Kitzbühel he finished eleventh. Because his father Louis trained Didier Cuche until the turn of the millennium, the five-time Streif winner plays a special role in Alexis’ life. Cuche addressed Monney’s only deficit last winter: “Alexis needs to improve his jumping technique, otherwise it will be really dangerous.” Monney took this input to heart: “I worked intensively on it last summer in Chile and Zermatt.”

Franjo von Allmen (22)

When former Feuz coach Manfred Widauer helped out with the European Cup team for a few days last year, his attention was immediately drawn to a strong boy (1.83 meters, 93 kg) from Simmental. “This Franjo von Allmen skis sensationally,” says Widauer enthusiastically. A few months later, the three-time silver medalist from the penultimate Junior World Championships in France celebrated his first victory in the European Cup. And with second place in the European Cup downhill classification, the trained carpenter has secured a permanent place for this World Cup winter.

Marco Kohler (26)

The Meiringer is a year old, a fellow skier and one of Marco Odermatt’s best friends. And it is highly likely that Kohler would have reached world class long ago if he had not torn the cruciate ligament, patellar tendon and medial ligament in his left knee in a training crash at the Lauberhorn almost four years ago. At the time, one of his doctors no longer believed that Kohler would ever be able to play competitive sports again. But with the final victory in the European Cup, Odermatt’s “ski twins” have made an impressive return. This means that he also has a place at the World Cup this season.
