‘The Lord of the Rings’ meets ‘Game Of Thrones’: an adventure trilogy about one of the greatest historical legends is made into a film

The legend of Robin Hood Everyone probably knows it pretty much by heart – so the trick is to always find a new, exciting approach when retelling it. And so the legendary hero steps into the Stephen Lawhead’s three-part King Raven saga Not only a new origin story, the ‘Rabenkönig’ trilogy, as the series is called in German, also has a very special twist.

In the parts “Hood – King of the Ravens”, “Scarlet – Lord of the Woods” and “Tuck – Champion of the Lord” the plot in question is always told from a different perspective – that of the titular character. Not only is Robin Hood’s view of events presented, but Will Scarlet and Brother Tuck are also featured.

‘Hood’, ‘Scarlet’, ‘Tuck’ could all be made into films

Filmmakers have worked on the entire series Brent Ryan Green the exclusive film and television rights have been secured. How exactly he plans to implement it is not yet known – but if Green stays true to the approach of developing multiple projects that are then told from different perspectives, we can expect an interesting historical saga on the big screen or the small screen.

Brent Ryan Green plays loud I have been thinking about adapting the “King Raven” trilogy for years: “It has been more than 15 years since I read ‘Hood’ and ever since I have carried with me the desire to film this incredible work.” For the new series, director and producer Green does not shy away from big comparisons: “It’s ‘The Lord of the Rings’ meets ‘Game Of Thrones’, with the heart of CS Lewis [Autor der ‚Chroniken von Narnia‘].”

He looks forward to bringing this epic story to life. Novelist Stephen Lawhead, who has also written the fantasy series ‘The Saga of the Dragon King’, ‘The Empyrion Saga’ and ‘The Pendragon Saga’, fully supports the project: ‘I am delighted and grateful that Brent and his team have made the film have captured this vision and I look forward to the outcome.”

No Sherwood Forest in the ‘King Raven’ trilogy

‘This view’ is that Stephen Lawhead focuses in his story not on the time in which Robin Hood is already established as avenger of the disinherited and protector of widows and orphans, but on prehistory – which he even sees differently in time and place. situated than is the case in current mythology. One of the most famous Robin Hood locations has been omitted: Instead of Sherwood Forest in Nottingham, ‘Raven King’ Robin is here in Wales. The series is set at the end of the 11th century. And Robin Hood is not called Hood here (initially), but Bran ap Brychan.

Talk about the late 11th century. The ‘King Raven’ trilogy is set shortly after the Battle of Hastings – and this in turn will be the focus of another historical project just announced. “Game Of Thrones” star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and James Norton meet as William, Duke of Normandy and Harold, Earl of Wessex at the said battle – in the BBC series “King And Conqueror”.
