“It hurts like hell”: Cross-country skiers’ penises freeze during races

Last weekend the cross-country skiers started the World Cup season in Ruka, Finland. The races turn into torture. The reason? The temperatures.

On Sunday, when the men skated 20 kilometers, it was -19 degrees. So the circumstances are just normal. According to the regulations of the international ski association FIS, competitions may only take place when it is not colder than -20 degrees.

Dragged to the finish in terror

Calle Halfvarsson (34) has a particularly painful experience with the freezing cold. As he revealed to Swedish newspaper Expressen after the race, his penis froze along the way. After completing six of the eight rounds, he noticed something was wrong in the center of his body. And despite the pain, she dragged herself to the finish line.

The pain he has to endure as a result is indescribable. Only those who have experienced it can understand it, says the Swede. “It hurts like hell, it’s horrible.” He gives the tip not to imitate it.

He had to lie in the warming tent for ten minutes to thaw his penis. Despite this incident, Halfvarsson ultimately finished 18th, the best Swede in the rankings. His sense of humor has not been lost as a result.

“Always put it in a sock”

“It’s fortunate that I’m becoming a father for the second time,” he says after the Frost experience. About a month ago, his partner Isabell Olsson (25) announced the good news on Instagram. The couple already has a son, who was born in June 2022. Halfvarsson adds: “Because it will be difficult in the future if I continue like this.”

What does he mean by that? By the way, this isn’t the first time his penis has frozen during a race! In January he told ‘Expressen’ that this had happened to him twice – always in Finland. When asked if the country is dangerous for his penis, he said: “Hmm, you should always put it in a sock.” Apparently that doesn’t help either. (beer)
