Just a week ago, SFV president Dominique Blanc and Nati director Pierluigi Tami said in Bucharest that a detailed analysis would follow the unsatisfactory qualifying campaign in December – and that the fate of coach Murat Yakin would be decided.

The bosses at the time ignored the fact that the draw for the European Championship groups would take place on December 2 – and risked exposing themselves to ridicule: namely if Yakin was fired after the draw. At the same time, the stalling tactic would not be very respectful to the coach.

But now there is a change. Corresponding reports from “Nau” and “CH Media” coincide with the information from Blick: The urgency of the issue has motivated those responsible to take action. Meetings and discussions have been taking place on the association’s carpet for days. The answer to the trainer’s question must now be found before the Swiss delegation travels to the group draw.

According to information from Blick, it is now certain that if Yakin flies to Hamburg, he will also fly to the European Championships in the summer of 2024. And that as coach of the Swiss national team. If not, he will be denied the harvest of the tough qualification.

The Central Board meets on Friday, December 1. The final decision will be taken at the latest, if not sooner. According to the statutes, the highest SFV committee determines Yakin’s fate.
