Ralph Krueger (64), coach of the Swiss national hockey team from 1997 to 2010, will become chairman of the supervisory board of Austria Wien, Austria’s first-class football club, which is currently in seventh place in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Krueger has a strong track record. The ex-Nati coach has left an impressive mark on both ice hockey and football. From 2014 to 2019, he was chairman of the English football club Southampton, after which he coached the Buffalo Sabers in the NHL, the best ice hockey league in the world, for two years.
Krueger had his most successful time as an ice hockey coach in Austria at Feldkirch, when he won the championship five times in a row from 1994 to 1998. During his time with the Swiss national team, Krueger also laid the foundation for his rise to the world class. (par)
