At the GP show in Las Vegas: Fans and Sainz are the victims!

Carlos Sainz finished second during qualifying in Las Vegas. However, the Spaniard received a ten-place penalty due to the incident during the first training session.

The roulette ball rolled to zero during the first practice of the comeback after more than 40 years in Las Vegas. And of course no one had bet on Zero. It took eight minutes for the match to be called off.

Five o’clock break

Just like the start of the second training at 2:30 am local time and the end at 4:00 am will go down in history as nonsense. In between, track workers glued more than 50 of the 140 manhole covers to the track as a precaution.

Praise for the organizer for this, but you also have to blame him immediately. During the witching hours he chased away the spectators who had been waiting in the stands for hours. If necessary, the police were also to help. The fans were victims of a shift change by the security guards and most track workers had overstayed their hours.

Fans get $200 vouchers, but…

Just how greedy the GP organizers in the desert city are is evident from the fact that the angry spectators have now been given a $200 voucher. But they can only exchange them in the fan shops along the route. Where you can only buy expensive t-shirts or caps.

Sainz as the second major victim

The FIA, as a rule enforcer, also did not get good marks after the start of the scandal. If force majeure is clearly responsible for the total loss of Sainz’s Ferrari, the Spaniard should not be punished either.

But because the rebuilding of the red car required a third battery in addition to the chassis, gearbox and engine, Sainz had to drop ten starting places in the penultimate race (from 12th place). The FIA: “We looked for a loophole in the rules for this case, but we found none. Sorry!” Poor FIA.
