In a horrific car accident: Ex-NFL pro dies at 33

Sad news from the US. As the Houston Chronicle reports, former NFL pro DJ Hayden died in a horrific car accident early Saturday morning. He was only 33 years old.

The accident occurred around 2 a.m. at an intersection in Houston, when a car ran a red light and crashed into the vehicle Hayden was sitting in. A total of six people were killed in the accident, including Zach McMillan and Ralph Oragwu, two other football players who were Hayden’s teammates during his collage days. According to police, two people survived the accident, but one woman is seriously injured in hospital.

Drafted 12th

Hayden’s football career included both highs and lows. In 2012, he suffered a near-fatal injury to the main artery leading to the heart in a training accident. However, he recovered within a few days and was released from hospital after just a week.

A year later, the cornerback was drafted 12th overall by the then-Oakland Raiders. He played for the team for four seasons before moving to the Detroit Lions for a year and then to the Jacksonville Jaguars. His last stop was the Washington Commanders. He signed a contract with them in 2021, from which he was released in the spring without playing last year.
