According to my weather app there is much more snow than on Saturday. However, this prediction has no influence on my preparation. I’m prepared for a race to happen.

You have been considered a top favorite by many experts for days. Is that why the cancellation of the first Matterhorn descent hurts you especially?
When you’re 28, it’s easier to deal with something like that than when you’re 22. And the frustration would certainly have been much greater if we had already been on the mountain when it didn’t happen. But because the FIS made the decision so early, at least we were spared the long elevator ride to the start. Instead, I agreed to meet my future wife Lara and my parents for coffee. That was really good. But at that moment, an important message arrived on my phone!

Can you tell us the contents?
I just learned that there will definitely be no Matterhorn descent on Monday. After the first training it was said that we would race on Monday if no races were possible on Saturday and Sunday. But now they have decided to abandon this alternative because the weather forecast for Monday is not better.
