Outburst at press conference: Klopp bursts out because of crying fans

Liverpool only managed a disappointing 1-1 draw against newly promoted Luton Town in the league match this weekend. Now, four days later, the Reds suffered their first Europa League defeat (3-2) of the current season in Toulouse. For coach Jürgen Klopp (56) it was an evening to quickly forget. Also because after the match the obligatory press conference was held in a makeshift tent outside the stadium and was not at all to Klopp’s taste. What happened?

While the German tries to comment on the dramatic outcome of the match in a quiet environment, loud cheers can be heard from the Toulouse fans outside. Neither the journalists’ questions nor Klopp’s answers are difficult to understand. This angers the already angry Klopp: “Who had the idea to hold the press conference here? That would be an interesting question. Wow!” he says irritated and puts his head in his hands in frustration.

VAR creates discussions

Fortunately, the noise level drops shortly afterwards for all participants. But Klopp is still angry. This time, however, it was Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah’s equalizer that was canceled by VAR, making the score 3-3 in the 9th minute of injury time. However, it is not goalscorer Quansah who is responsible for the missed goal, but teammate Alexis Mac Allister, who made a handball a few seconds earlier.

Klopp says: “I have only now seen the video and for me it is not a handball, but how can I determine that? The ball goes to the chest and then I honestly don’t see any contact with the arm. Maybe they had a different view than me.” After all: despite the defeat, the result has no consequences for Liverpool. The English continue to lead the group with two points ahead of Toulouse. (Men)
