A little later it becomes clear: it is the Norwegian Ragnhild Mowinckel. The 31-year-old is in 6th place after the first run, but her competition ends abruptly on the Sölden Glacier. The reason for the exclusion is an increased fluorine content in the wax of the skis.

Mowinckel is distraught after the scandal and cries in front of the cameras. She has no explanation for the unauthorized measurements.

The FIS ski association and manufacturer Head will deliver this Friday – six days after the race in Sölden. “The cause of the higher values ​​is a device that was contaminated with fluorine and was used to prepare skis.” The wax itself was problem-free: “The wax used was tested by the Fis. The Fis has confirmed that this wax did not contain fluorine,” said a statement from Head.

“We are very pleased that together we have found the cause of the exceedance of the fluorine limit values ​​and thus have an important clue as to what we should pay attention to when preparing skis in the future,” said chief race director Rainer Salzgeber.
