It is a debacle that is currently offered in Gelsenkirchen. Ten games, seven defeats, seven points, relegation place 16 – the tree is burning for second division Schalke. Enormous. The fans were boiling with anger, after the 0:3 against Karlsruhe the players had to listen a lot.
And there seems to be a general helplessness within the club. In the summer they were confident that they would be able to compete again against BVB in the German upper house for the Revierderby next season. Now the Knapps risk having to play the derby in the 3rd division against Dortmund II (currently 4th place).

The fans hope for an early return of ex-FCL goalkeeper Marius Müller (30), who has been out since mid-September with a torn adductor. Because since then there have been only defeats – and a lot of movement in the Schalke goal. Three goalkeepers played in four games, Michael Langer (38) twice and Justin Heekeren (22) and Ralf Fährmann (35) once each. They scored eleven goals.
Schalke already played in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2021/22 season. At that time, looking at the table after the 10th matchday was much more pleasant: third place with 19 points. In the end, Schalke stood up first.
