Our halfpipe snowboarders will have a new trainer: As Swiss-Ski announced on Wednesday morning, Patrick Cinca (32) will take over in November. Predecessor Pepe Regazzi leaves the team at his own request to refocus.
The Ticino native has been head coach of the freestyle snowboarders since 2011 and has celebrated numerous successes. In 2014, Regazzi’s protégé Iouri Podladtchikov (35) sensationally won Olympic gold. Five more World Cup medals from Podladtchikov, Pat Burgener and Jan Scherrer followed from 2017 to 2023. Regazzi remains part of Swiss snowboarding, as Swiss-Ski has announced. In what form is still open.
But his successor Patrick Cinca is also a well-known name in the snowboard scene. The German recently coached the Austrian team around star athlete Anna Gasser (32), with whom he won Olympic and World Cup gold in 2022 and 2023.
«We are happy that we were able to win Patrick Cinca for our team. Despite his young coaching age, Patrick already has a lot of experience and know-how in snowboarding,” says Christoph Perreten, head of freestyle, in the press release. (mo)
