Due to the war against Ukraine, the Swedish federation banned players who stayed in Russia after the start of the war. This also applied to two players who moved to Switzerland this season: current competition top scorer Jakob Lilja (30, Ambri, ex-Dynamo Moscow) and SCB goalkeeper Adam Reideborn (31), who led army club CSKA Moscow to the title last season.
Can they now play for “Tre Kronor” again? “This is a discussion that we will now have when we look at the selection for the Karjala Cup,” Swedish national coach Sam Hallam (44) told “Expressen”. The four-nation tournament with Finland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland will take place from November 9 to 12 in Tampere.

In addition to Reideborn and Lilja, Johan Mattsson, Robin Press, Fredrik Claesson, who continued to earn their money in Russia, and Adam Almqvist (ex Zug, now Munich) also remained in the KHL after the outbreak of war.
