Excitement about AfD politician Alice Weidel (44): A “security-related incident” took place on September 23, as Weidel’s spokesperson confirmed to Blick. “Ms Weidel and her family were removed from their private apartment to a safe location by security authorities as mounting evidence pointed to an attack on her family.” Kapo Schwyz confirms the operation to Blick. The cantonal police declined to reveal how specific the threat was “for tactical reasons.” She also provided no information about the suspected perpetrator.

Better Einsiedeln than Biel

Right-wing populist AfD politician Alice Weidel has lived with her wife and two sons in the municipality of Einsiedeln SZ since 2019. The family previously lived in Biel BE, which displeased part of the left-wing alternative environment. The eldest son “suddenly had no one to play with,” Weidel criticized in “Weltwoche” in 2019. “At a certain point, the left-liberal Democrats no longer allowed their children to come to us.”

Weidel is repeatedly accused of double standards: on the one hand, the AfD leader creates sentiment against foreigners – on the other hand, the German politician herself spends large parts of her private life abroad, namely in Switzerland. And she is in a relationship with a Swiss woman from Sri Lanka, filmmaker Sarah Bossard (41).

Einsiedeln, Überlingen, Berlin

Bossard told the “Tages-Anzeiger” in 2021 about his new residence in Einsiedeln: “We feel very comfortable here and nothing draws me back to Biel, where I grew up. Everyone here knows us and I don’t have to explain much. Everyone is aware of our family situation.”

In addition to Einsiedeln SZ, Weidel lives in Überlingen on Lake Constance, where she has her constituency, and in Berlin. On Tuesday she was due to take part in an AfD event for the Bavarian state elections. As a precaution, she canceled a public appearance on Tuesday, Weidel’s spokesperson told Blick. Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office said the cancellation was “not at the instigation or recommendation” of German authorities. Weidel’s next performance is scheduled for Saturday in Wiesbaden.
