Jersey bad luck at Aston Villa: The new shirts from ‘Castore’ are soaking wet in no time. “After just ten minutes the players look as if they have jumped into a pool,” writes the Telegraph. The problem affects both the home and away shirts.
But this sensational ‘wet look’ is not a fashion statement. On the contrary: the wet shirts look funny, but hinder the professionals on the lawn. Once soaking wet, the sweaters become heavy and uncomfortable – becoming a real handicap as the game progresses.
The men’s team is so bothered by the new shirts that they have even approached the club management. Coach Unai Emery also admitted on Wednesday that there was a “situation” regarding the new jersey designs.
But it’s not just men who are affected by this Jersey gate. The women’s team of Aston Villa, where Nati player Alisha Lehmann (24) is under contract, also expresses their great commitment with the ‘wet look’. The new season in the Women’s Premier League starts this weekend. So far, Lehmann and Co. avoided the new shirts; in the test matches they usually played in training clothes.
But now the start of the new season is getting closer. And there is no solution in sight to the problem. This causes a lot of dissatisfaction among the women’s team. “Normally they would be excited about the start of the season now.
