Contract until 2026: McLaren extends Formula 1 driver Piastri

class=”sc-29f61514-0 icZBHN”>

Oscar Piastri (left) and Lando Norris will remain the driving duo at McLaren after 2024.

Oscar Piastri (22, 15 GP starts, 42 World Championship points) will stay with McLaren until 2026. Piastri now has the second longest driver contract after Max Verstappen (until 2028). His teammate Lando Norris is still under contract with McLaren until the end of 2025.

Piastri was already tied to McLaren for 2024; the team had to give up this due to the contract disputes with Alpine. There was farce last summer when both teams claimed they had agreed a deal for the Australian for next season.

Piastri is currently in his debut season in Formula 1. His best result is 4th place in the British Grand Prix. With 42 World Championship points, he is in 11th place in the drivers’ standings. (SDA)
