Balotelli gone – but without a transfer

According to information from Blick, Sion president Christian Constantin (66) and Balotelli were able to agree on a contract termination after days of wrangling. At the start of the week, CC feared that they would have to drag the Italian along at least until the winter.

For Sion, this means that you no longer have to pay Super Mario – after all, he earns 2.8 million francs a year! However, the Valais will not receive a transfer fee for the striker in this way. But it wouldn’t have been much more than a financial comfort. Six goals from eighteen games is a poor basis for negotiations in the transfer market, even for CC.

Will CC strike again?

While he was looking for a new club – it would be his twelfth career stop as a professional – Mario Balotelli is said to have already found what he was looking for. Turkish club Adana Demirspor are apparently ready to welcome the eccentric return. However, the obligation has not yet been determined. Balotelli was already under contract with the team from the city of 2.2 million in the 21/22 season. There he scored 19 goals in 35 games and set a personal highlight with a Rabona goal.

FC Sion is also aiming for a return. Without Balotelli ballast, they immediately want to be promoted back to the Super League. This now requires a ‘real’ striker.

There would be room on the payroll again. Because the transfer window is closed in Switzerland, only professionals without a contract can be signed. Christian Constantin has a specific name in mind: former international Mario Gavranovic (33), who has not had a club since his contract with Kayserispor expired. “But I doubt he wants to participate in the Challenge League,” CC told Blick. “Maybe I’ll call him sometime.”
