After the European Championships this summer, it is time for a big change for the U21. Only four players who were in the squad for the tournament a few weeks ago are at the start of qualifying for the 2025 European Championship. The stars of the time around Zeki Amdouni, Dan Ndoye, Kastriot Imeri and Fabian Rieder are all gone. The new protagonists are Alvyn Sanches, Lars Villiger and Nikolas Muci. And there is a new coach on the bench, Sascha S Tauch (49).
Despite many new faces, one thing remains the same: the U21s continue to win their matches. At least she did that at the start of the European Championship qualifier against Finland. It doesn’t seem like a success for a good hour. Switzerland was already behind after four minutes. Completely unchallenged, Otso Liimatta pushes the ball past FCL keeper Pascal Loretz.
The fact that the U21s still win is thanks to a double blow after just over an hour. And one of those goals is still a dream goal. Less than four minutes later, it was Lucerne striker Villiger who provided the lead and the final result. Both attackers enriched their U21 debut with their first goal.
The first team of the national team under German coach S Tauch ends with the three points. The U21 will continue in exactly one month. They will play at home against Montenegro on October 13. The other group opponents are Romania, Albania and Armenia.
