The Swiss cross-country riders were unable to intervene in the battle for the top positions in the World Cup race in Les Gets in Hochsavoyen. The best placed was Nicole Koller in 9th place.
Koller reached the top ten at World Cup cross-country level for the first time. Previous best results were two 11th places. Alessandra Keller, third in the short race at the same location on Friday, had to settle for 13th place. Sina Frei and Jolanda Neff followed in 15th and 17th place.
Koller lost 3:15 minutes to the winner, Austria’s Mona Mitterwallner. The Tyrolean achieved her second World Cup victory, two weeks after the premiere in Pal Arinsal in Andorra. Mitterwallner broke away from a top trio on the penultimate lap and reached the finish line 38 seconds ahead of World Cup leader and European champion Puck Pieterse of the Netherlands. World champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot from France came third. (SDA)
