Mario Balotelli (33) has never spoken much in public. Not even since his transfer to FC Sion. His words make all the more headlines when he does it. Like now again.

On Wednesday evening, he took over twenty minutes for the Italian YouTube channel ‘Controcalcio’. In it, after a long silence, he talks about his football future, which is as far as possible from Wallis at the request of Sion boss Christian Constantin.

“Soble Problems in Zion”

“Will we see you again soon in one place?” Balotelli is asked. “Where?” replies the eccentric Italian. The moderator digs deeper: “In Italy? Or do you just want to return somewhere on the field?” Balotelli’s answer is quite sobering. “I don’t know. I’m honest. I want to play, I have a few problems in Zion, but all of them can be solved. But I don’t know where I’m going.” That doesn’t sound like a quick fix, though.

Because his chances of changing are getting less and less. After all, the transfer period is coming to an end in more and more countries. Also in Saudi Arabia. During the interview, Balotelli also talks about the many footballers who are attracted to the Middle East and whether he would be interested in playing there.

“Why not?”

Balotelli jokes about it at first. “I once turned down a blatant offer from China so I could say no to everything.” By his own statement, the Chinese offer was higher than any Saudi deal he had ever heard of. He then adds, “If a good offer comes in and I think the family is fine, why not go?”

It is a pity that in Saudi Arabia, just like in Switzerland, the transfer market closes on Thursday evening. Balotelli will likely remain on Constantin’s payroll for now – at least as long as there are no buyers or the contract is not terminated early by mutual agreement.
