Basketball Two Celtics are the only ones selected in Galicia

Alba Gallego and Aroa Barredo They arrived in the world of basketball at the age of four, answering the call from the program little space which in its time started Celtic and eight years later, the pivot and point guard are packing their bags to participate in the Spanish under-12 team concentration. On the 31st they set a course for Guadalajara, where he will stay for five days. They are part of a group of 30 selected players who will be under the command of the selectors Elena Lahoz. They are also the only girls who go from Galicia, which in a parallel way confirms the fundamental work of Celta. In addition, only Barcelona and Gran Canaria have more than one representative in modernization.

The two run their basketball courses in parallel. For Alba, the sport of basketball is a matter of genes, since her father was a player, and Aroa took to the discipline following her sister, who was then playing for Celta. Aroa, the playmaker, stands out for his speed and combativeness; while Alba, the pivot, is under the basket due to his position.

For the two, who have become friends even off the court, basketball is everything. «They are hooked. From small, colléronlle or taste», comments Abel, the father of the base, who also reveals the effort behind it. «They train a lot of hours because they are fans with their team and the things they have on top. Sometimes they work with three teams and they are in Navija five days a week and it is difficult for them».

For Ara Barreda and Alba Gallego, the invitation from the national team is the icing on the cake in a year full of positive news. They won the Galician league with Celta and under the leadership of Pablo Vaamonde, who also works in the coaching staff of the first team under the leadership of Cristina Cantero. That title gave him a passport to participate in the Spanish championship, and in addition, they went with the Galician team to the state for autonomy. Now they have five days of modernization to close a great year.
